Phuket Stadium champ Malik “The Frenchman” Watson training MMA

Bangla Stadium title winner Malik Watson is training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Phuket with 3rd degree black belt Olavo Abreu, a founding member of Brazilian Top Team.

The Muay Thai fighter, who overcame an initial 1-2 baptism of fire in the stadium to embark on a 6-1 streak that led to his winning the stadium title at 70kg, is now working his BJJ under Abreu and black belt Rodrigo Praxedes, at Phuket Top Team in Chalong, Phuket. The fighter has six years of Muay Thai and a further seven years of Tae Kwon Do behind him, and with such an excellent standard of coaching, no doubt he may be one to watch for in Asian MMA in the years to come.

Watson represents Phuket Top Team, a camp for MMA training in Phuket. The American is still only 19yrs old, and has all the potential in the world to become a great Mixed Martial Artist, if he can develop his grappling sufficiently to match his high level striking.

Watson next fights in Bangla Stadium at an unspecified date in May. It is not known if his title belt will be at stake when he does.
